Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the use of our website rentgomalta.com (the “Website”) and the car rental services provided by RentGo Malta. By booking or using our services, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully before confirming your rental.

1. General Information

  • 1.1. RentGo Malta is a local-focused car rental service operating in Malta.
  • 1.2. All bookings are subject to vehicle availability and confirmation by our staff or local partners.
  • 1.3. By using our services, you confirm that you meet the driver and age requirements set out in these Terms and on your rental agreement.

2. Booking and Payment

  • 2.1. Reservations can be made via our Website, email, phone, or WhatsApp.
  • 2.2. We operate on a no deposit, no credit card required model for many vehicles. Payment can often be made by debit card or cash on arrival, according to the conditions shown in your offer.
  • 2.3. Prices generally include local VAT, standard mileage allowance, and basic insurance as required by Maltese law, unless otherwise stated in the offer.
  • 2.4. Optional extras (child seat, GPS, additional driver, full cover, etc.) may be added at an extra daily cost.

3. Driver Requirements

  • 3.1. Drivers must normally be at least 23 years old (some vehicle categories may require a minimum age of 25; this will be stated in the offer).
  • 3.2. A valid driving license must be presented at pickup. Non-EU/UK licenses may require an International Driving Permit (IDP), depending on Maltese regulations.
  • 3.3. Drivers must have held a license for at least 1–3 years, depending on the vehicle category and insurance conditions.
  • 3.4. Additional drivers must be declared at the time of booking or pickup and may be subject to a daily fee.

4. Insurance and Liability

  • 4.1. All rentals include basic third-party liability insurance in accordance with Maltese law.
  • 4.2. Full cover or extended insurance may be purchased to reduce or eliminate financial responsibility for damages, subject to the terms and excesses shown in the policy.
  • 4.3. Insurance does not cover negligence, driving under the influence, use of the vehicle contrary to the rental agreement, or use by unauthorized drivers.
  • 4.4. Damage to tires, glass, interior, or the underbody may not be included in standard coverage; please review your offer and rental agreement for details.

5. Vehicle Use

  • 5.1. Vehicles must not be taken outside Malta without prior written authorization and appropriate insurance.
  • 5.2. Use of the vehicle on the Gozo ferry is generally allowed for many rentals, but always check your specific rental conditions and insurance.
  • 5.3. Vehicles must be used in compliance with Maltese traffic laws and local regulations.
  • 5.4. Smoking and carrying pets inside the vehicle is only allowed if agreed in advance and may be subject to a cleaning fee.
  • 5.5. The renter is responsible for any fines, penalties, parking tickets, congestion charges, or towing fees incurred during the rental period.

6. Fuel and Mileage

  • 6.1. Our standard fuel policy is “same-to-same” (return the car with the same fuel level as received), unless another policy is indicated in your booking.
  • 6.2. Vehicles must not exceed the agreed mileage terms unless otherwise specified in the rental agreement. Extra mileage may be charged at the rate indicated in your contract.

7. Pickup and Return

  • 7.1. Pickup and return locations typically include Malta International Airport (MLA), selected hotels, and private addresses in areas such as Valletta, Sliema, St Julian’s, St Paul’s Bay, Bugibba, Mellieħa, and nearby resorts.
  • 7.2. Vehicles must be returned at the agreed date, time, and place. Late returns may incur additional charges according to the current daily rates.
  • 7.3. The renter must return the vehicle in the same condition as received, subject to normal wear and tear. Excessive dirt or damage may result in cleaning or repair charges.

8. Cancellations and Modifications

  • 8.1. Cancellations made at least 48 hours before pickup are generally free of charge, unless otherwise stated in your booking conditions.
  • 8.2. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee or a charge up to the agreed rental price for the first day(s), depending on the offer.
  • 8.3. Modifications (vehicle type, dates, pickup/return times, extras) are subject to availability and may affect the rental rate.

9. Responsibility and Limitations

  • 9.1. RentGo Malta and its local partners are not liable for indirect losses, missed flights, or travel disruptions caused by accidents, traffic, weather conditions, or other events beyond our reasonable control.
  • 9.2. Roadside assistance is provided according to the terms of your rental. In case of accident, breakdown, or incident, contact us or the number indicated on your rental agreement immediately.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Malta. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malta.
